Golf
St Andrews is within 10 miles and there are at least 30 world class golf courses within 'The Kingdom of Fife'. Crail Golf Society is the seventh oldest club in the world and boasts two fantastic courses. There are also courses which are suitable for children - Elie has a 9 hole course which is suitable for kids and the not so hot golfer!
Walking
Visitors can while away the hours exploring beautiful coastal and inland scenery. The Fife Coastal Walk is well signposted and can be walked in stages. For a white-knuckle walk which teenagers will love, go on The Chain Walk at Kincraig Point, Elie. (Make sure the tide is out!)
Beaches
Lots of glorious beaches within 10-20 minutes. Fife has 5 beaches that have been awarded the coveted Blue Flag Award. Rockpools and sandcastles abound!
Restaurants
Large range of restaurants close by to discover including famous Anstruther Fish Bar BUT we think Pittenweem Fish n Chips are better but you can't 'sit-in'!
Bird Watching
Sanctuaries are nearby including the Isle of May which can be reached by a short boat trip from Anstruther. Wear a hat!
National Trust Properties and Museums
Details can be found in ‘The Gables Information Folder’ and local tourist information centres. The Tourist Information Centre in Crail also doubles as the local museum and is well worth a visit.
Shops and Amenities
Shops, pubs, beaches and harbour are all within minutes of the house. Fresh crab and lobster available at harbour kiosk during the season. Penmans is a traditional butcher and Murray Anderson in West Green is an excellent fishmonger. All shops have produce of high quality.
Art
The East Neuk is becoming increasingly renowned for quality artists who choose this area because of the clear light. There are numerous galleries, exhibitions and Open Days throughout the year. There are lively Art Festivals both in Crail and Pittenweem each year.
